    Description

This item is a custom designed deck of actual playing cards created by geocachers who helped raise funds for bringing the Geowoodstock 9 event to Warren, PA on July 2, 2011.  In the leadup to planning and hosting the event, Penn Soil RC&D Council, a 501-c-3 charitable organization authorized an on-line auction for geocachers offering the right to design the face of the 52 actual playing cards as they saw fit (within family friendly guidelines, of course).  At the conclusion of the online auction, the high bidders for each card were notified and were asked to provide the artwork for the design of that particular playing card which was created by a commercial vendor for the standard 52 card deck and entitled Geocaching In The Allegheny National Forest and decorated for commemoration of the Geowoodstock IX Event. Not only are the cards functional, but some of the designs portray geocacher milestones and are very entertaining.   Each deck of cards has been labeled with a unique tracking number purchased from groundspeak and is trackable on the geocaching.com website.  The decks can be released to travel or used for logging a personal record of your own travels by visiting different caches.  And if weather conditions aren't favorable for geocaching, you can always break out the deck of cards and play a few hands of poker or solitaire.  All proceeds from the sale benefit conservation and community development projects in northwestern PA supported by Penn Soil RC&D Council, the official host of Geowoodstock IX.
