A nostalgic look at days-gone-by entitled "Country Geocery" by renowned artist Randy Souders. This print is personally hand autographed by the artist (NOT by an 'autopen' or other mechanical device).
The scene features an old country store... the kind typical across rural America not so long ago. The front of the store displays the weathered, hand painted advertisments for Evergreen and Purina feeds as well as lettering proclaiming "Country Grocery" and "U.S. Post Office." Metal advertising signs include a red Coca Cola "button" sign, 7-UP, Dad's root beer, an RC Cola thermometer, Red Man tobacco etc.
There's a Texaco "Gilbert & Barker" type gravity gas pump plus another Texaco sign hanging from the gable of the covered entrance. An rusty 55 gallon barrel with hand cranked wringer rounds out the auto service department. An old pickup with a bale of hay can be seen on the right side of the store. And a covered stairway leads up to the 2nd floor entrance. The roof is protected by several prized lightning rods with glass balls.
Of particular interest is the old narrow "Vendo 44" Coca Cola machine with the push down handle that dispenses bottles. The artist has one of these in his collection and used it for inspiration.
This delightful little print will be the perfect addition to any rural nostalgia, advertising or Americana collection!
