The Meriden Silverplate Company was founded in Connecticut in 1869. It joined with the International Silver Company in 1898. The mark on the bottom of our pitcher was in used until the 1930s, giving us a terminus ante quam (i.e., the latest possible date our pitcher could have been made). The pitcher is 6 inches high and the base is 6.25 inches wide. The metal shows considerable patina, which we prefer, though it could be brought up to a full shine. This is antique pitcher number 967.
