    Alanga (or Avangard - the Soviet name) is one of the most common sorts of rice in Uzbekistan. It is grown in the Horezm regioт ща modern Uzbekistan.
    Alanga has short round grains and increases its volume largely when cooked. If you like more sticky type of pilaf, than Alanga is for you. Famous Fergana plov is usually cooked with Alanga.
